"Three Sisters" Original Oil Painting

Creating the concept for this painting made me cry. Not with sadness but with gratitude.

It tells a story of 3 sisters who love deeply, who hold each other when it feels like all hope is gone, and who stay by each other’s side in the darkness, waiting for daylight to come.

My mother and her two sisters are closer than most siblings, and taught my brothers and I to love unconditionally.

They have also shown us how to hold family close when life gets hard. Hard enough to break you. They’ve held each other through the loss of children, the loss of their father, and terrifying near death experiences.

They’ve also laughed harder than any trio I’ve met. They’ve taught me to not take life so seriously, and to find joy in the smallest things - because sometimes that’s what carries you through life’s trials.

I don’t think they’ll ever understand how much they shaped me. Their example of love and loyalty is beyond anything that I could’ve asked for.
