Commission Giveaway

Want to win a free custom painting?

First of all, thank you for your interest in a custom painting. It's honor to be trusted with capturing a person, place, or a pet that's dear to you.

Here's how to enter the giveaway:

  1. First, join my email newsletter
  2. Collect an original or print

$1 spent = 1 entry to win

For every dollar you spend in my shop before July 1st 2026, you will get one entry to my commission giveaway. This applies to all print and original purchases.

How large will my painting be?

Your custom piece can be up to 24" on the longest side. You can choose any size in the chart below.

Your painting will be created on a gallery-wrapped canvas with the sides painted so no framing is necessary.

It will also be varnished. This is a clear coat that seals the painting and adds an even, glossy finish.

Hanging hardware will be installed so you can hang your painting the moment it arrives.

Does my commission have to be Western?

I do love a good Western, but the short answer is no. You can request:

  • A landscape
  • Your pet (Up to 3)
  • A person/people in your life (Up to 3)

As long as you provide a clear reference photo with good lighting, I can bring your photo to life on a canvas.

Can I make changes?

When the painting is complete, you'll be able to make one revision and request final tweaks before the painting is officially done.

When will it be complete?

Your painting will be shipped within 45 days of choosing your canvas size and sending your reference photo. (Your piece will likely be shipped in under 30, but the 45 day window will allow for plenty of dry-time if necessary).

That's it! Good luck and happy collecting.

Meet Grace Highness

I am a professional artist based in Bozeman, Montana.

Raised on a lush farm in Minnesota, I spent my childhood sketching my horses, creating sculptures from materials I found in nature, and painting vibrant lake sunsets.

Today, my work is inspired by the spirit of the American West—a rugged land of possibility where the optimistic set out in pursuit of their dreams.

I've always been an artist at heart

In high school, I spent every spare minute painting or sketching.

It wasn't uncommon to find me in the yard, wearing a respirator surrounded by cans of colorful spray paint.

Many tapestries were tacked to our horse's fence and painted until the sun went down.

I entered my work into several high school art competitions and placed in many.

Eventually I started experimenting with oil paints, but didn't have much guidance through it. This little boat was my first attempt and was also the first piece that sold to a complete stranger!

They paid me $90. I didn't get to meet the buyer, but I wish I could explain to them how much their decision impacted me.

At the time I painted anything I was interested in, but followed photo references very closely.

It wasn't long before people started asking about commissions.

I was honored to be trusted with so many requests and I spent several years bringing people's visions to life.

Through college I squeezed in as many commissions as I could between my busy science courses.

But the question that was always in the back of my mind was "what do I want to paint?"

My high school art teacher always encouraged me to paint from my heart, and not just follow a photo.

I didn't fully understand what she meant, but her words sparked something in me...

“If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.” -Edward Hopper

In 2023 I really started to think about what it meant to paint from your heart.

After years of creating what others requested, I starting turning away commissions with the goal of finding my unique voice as an artist.

I buckled down in 2025 and dug deep. I discovered the joys of blending abstraction with the spirit of the Wild West.

Today, my work celebrates the independence and resilience of the inhabitants of the West - the place so many flocked to for a shot at fulfilling their dreams.

When you hang a piece of my art on your wall, I hope you're reminded that chasing your own dream is worthwhile.

And remember to have a little grit when you chase it, because meaningful pursuits don't come easily.
